Mercury Marine Donates Two Outboard Motors
Two beautiful outboard engines donated by Mercury Marine. One a 400HP V10 and the other a 225HP V6. These engines are an excellent addition to our engines and electronic engine controls curriculum. They serve as reminders that the skills acquired through the automotive technology program extend to other industries, such as power motorsports. Thank you, Mercury Marine, for this incredible donation!

Nissan Donates two Pathfinders and two QX60 SUVs
Many thanks to Nissan for the generous donation of two Nissan Pathfinders and two Infiniti QX60 SUVs. These are brand-new vehicles with V-6 engines and 9-speed transmissions. These vehicles are going to get heavy use in our emissions, body electrical, autonomous technologies, transmissions, and steering/suspension classes. Thank you, Nissan, for being such a great supporter of the program!

GM Donates a 2024 Chevy Blazer
Thank you, General Motors, for the donation of this beautiful Chevrolet Blazer. This vehicle will be shared between the transmissions, body electrical, and emissions courses. This is a great addition to our fleet, which is greatly supported by General Motors, and we truly appreciate that!

GM donates a 2024 Buick Envision
Thank you, General Motors, for the donation of this 2024 Buick Envision. This vehicle has a bad engine, but that’s fine by us! It will be a great addition to our program for students to diagnose engine mechanical issues. Plus it will receive much attention in our body electrical, transmission, and steering/suspension classes.

Nissan Donates Turbocharged Engines
A big thank you to General Motors for the 10-speed transmissions! These units range between 2019 and 2023 and will be a great addition to our transmission class. Thank you for helping keep our curriculum current!

Nissan Donates Turbocharged Engines
Thank you, Nissan, for the 12 turbocharged 4-cylinder engines! These engines will be used in the Engine Mechanical class for students to practice disassembly, measurement, and reassembly. Having these modern advanced technology engines equipped with turbo, gasoline direct injection, and variable valve timing will help keep our curriculum current and prepare graduates for late-model technologies.

Transtec Donates Transmission Tooling and Kits
Thank you, Transtec for the generous donation of two piston/gearset jigs to allow us to service ZF 8HP large and small units. Also, thank you for the two overhaul kits to service the seals and pistons in the large and small ZF 8HP. This donation will support the automatic transmissions course by allowing students an understanding of the processes involved in overhauling this popular transmission that’s used in domestic vehicles, such as Ram trucks and Jeeps, as well as many European vehicles, like BMW, VW, Audi, Jaguar, and Land Rover. These kits and tools are expensive and retail for $5,376 from WIT transmissions. Without this generous donation, students wouldn’t be able to experience these lessons! Thank you again!

Stellantis Donates 10 WiTech 2 Software Subscriptions
Thank you, Stellantis, for the donation of ten licenses and Micropods to the SIU Automotive Technology program. Each of these licenses is worth $1600, so the total donation is $16,000! These Micropods and Witech subscriptions are invaluable to our faculty and students while diagnosing our Dodge, Chrysler, Ram, and Jeep vehicles. Students gain experience working with OE tools and service information.

Cummins Donates PCM and Training Diagrams
Thank you, Cummins, for the generous donation of a new PCM to replace this faulty module. This PCM is worth over $6000 and would be a tough purchase for our department. Cummins came through big-time and provided the PCM and 5 high-quality laminated wiring diagrams worth $425. These diagrams are on display in the heavy-duty engine laboratory.

General Motors Donates Techline Connect Software
Thank you, General Motors, for the generous donation of seven full-access software subscriptions to GM’s Techline Connect. Each of these subscriptions is worth $4,328 for a total of $30,296! With the great GM vehicle donations we’ve received in the past, this software will allow the students to experience OE-level diagnostics, programming, and service information. Kiewit Donates Equipped F550 Truck
Thank you, Kiewit, for the excellent donation of the Ford F550 work truck. This truck is equipped with a hydraulic crane and a generator/welder. The students will now enjoy learning about the Ford 6.7L diesel, PTO functions and operations, as well as hydraulics and electronic add-ons. Thank you to our Kiewit grads for arranging this donation. Now students have a crane to help lift the 15-liter heads off the engine blocks!

Noregon Donates 20 JPRO Software Packages
At $4,300 per license with NextStep Repair, Noregon is supporting the program with $86,000 worth of software access per year! JPRO is a software package that allows students to access diagnostic scan tool data for virtually all makes and models of heavy-duty over-the-road and off-highway trucks and equipment. Coupled with the NextStep repair guides, the students now have aftermarket access to service information and diagnostic data for heavy-duty vehicles. Thank you, Ally, for the generous gift of a Tesla Model S P90D. This vehicle will enhance the EV class greatly with exceptional experiences with high voltage battery packs, the power conversion system, body electronics, and high voltage HVAC. Thank you!

Nissan Donates NINE Leaf EVs
A huge thank you to Nissan for the generous donation of nine Leaf EVs ranging from model year 2017 to 2024. All of these vehicles are fully functional, but they have mechanical/electrical issues ranging from low-capacity high-voltage batteries to isolation faults. These vehicles will be perfect for our electrification courses by allowing students to experience real-world faults with EV vehicles. Thank you, Nissan!!

Ford Donates IDS Subscription to SIU
Thank you, Ford for donating a year subscription to your Integrated Diagnostic Software (IDS) to allow our Ford VCM-3 to communicate to our Ford vehicles. This subscription normally costs $900 per year and Ford has supported us with this software for the past two years. This software allows us to do more in-depth diagnostics and programming on Ford vehicles. Recently it was used to program the solenoid strategy on a Ford 10-speed transmission. Thank you!!

Nissan Donates a 2017 Leaf
Thank you Nissan for your continued support. Our most recent donation includes a 2017 Nissan Leaf with 88k miles. This car is in great shape! This vehicle will be put to good use because it allows the students to learn on a car with real-world wear and tear. The EV and Hybrid courses will take great advantage of this technology.

GM Donates a 2nd Colorado!
Thank you, General Motors, for a second Chevrolet Colorado! This is already being put to good use in our NVH class and it will be very useful in supporting the content in the Auto Trans, Body Electrical, and Engine Performance classes! Like the first Colorado, this vehicle has GM’s fancy sliding camshaft design, which is very interesting and impressive.

Ford Donates Transmission and Driveline Components
Thank you, Ford and Parkland Community College for the gracious donation of three 10R60 10-speed transmissions, a couple of 6-speed auto FWD transmissions, a couple of FWD manual transmissions, a couple of RWD manual transmissions, and six transfer cases. It’s always a struggle to get manual transmission components, so these will help a bunch! Plus, this really rounds out our assortment of 10-speed automatic transmissions!

GM donates a 2022 Cadillac CT5 V series
Thank you GM for the Cadillac CT5 V equipped with the twin turbo V-6 engine and 10-speed transmission. The car sounds as beautiful as it looks! The students are going to learn a great deal with this advanced engine and transmission technology as well as the high-end body controls and features. This is a great addition to our training fleet!

Caterpillar donates engines and transmissions
Thank you Caterpillar for the engine and transmission donations. Caterpillar has donated some C12 engines and a C6.6 engine. Also, this beautiful C13 engine will service as a great introduction to our Diesel engines lab. We greatly appreciate your support and the student will get great use out of rebuilding these incredible engines.

Thank you GM for the 2024 Buick Encore. This vehicle has excellent technology for us to use in many classes, including our engine drivability course, ADAS course, body electrical course, and automatic transmissions course.

Ford 10R80 Transmissions
Ford donates six 10R80 transmissions. These are great transmissions for the students to practice rebuilding. They are found in most all RWD/4WD Ford products, and they are very similar to the GM 10-speed. The students can practice rebuilding this transmission and use our Ford 150 truck for on-vehicle exercises. These transmissions will be put to great use! Thank you!!

Chevrolet Silverado
Thank you GM for the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado! This truck is well-equipped and will find great use in our ADAS, Auto Trans, Drivetrains, Body Electrical, and Comprehensive Diagnostics courses. The students love the off-road package and the styling. This is a great addition to our fleet! We’ll put it to good use!

Ally donates a Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid
Thank you Ally for donating this electrified Toyota Rav4! We will get great use out of it in all courses, but definitely the Hybrid and EV course! The students are gaining great experience doing service work on this hybrid vehicle. Like the Lexus, this Rav4 is well equipped for students doing diagnosis on the High-voltage battery, the motor inverters, and the DC-DC converter. This is an excellent training vehicle!

Cummins donates a 15-liter engine
Thank you Cummins for the 15-liter donation. This will be a great addition to our AUT 440 Diesel Engine Performance and Emissions course. The students will gain great experience doing engine service work on this beast of an engine.

Thank you Nissan for the collection of 14 Jatco CVTs and the 5 engines! These will provide years of training in our Automatic Transmissions and our Engines courses! CVTs are covered in the Auto Trans course as well as the Comprehensive Diagnostics course. Nissan is a great supporter of the program!

Thank you Navistar for the 2019 Class 8 truck equipped with a Cummin X15 engine and an Allison transmission. This truck is put to great use in our Diesel Emissions and Truck Body Systems courses. We appreciate your continued support!

Ford training aid donations
Ford donates EV powertrain, hybrid F150 10R80, 4WD 10R80 transmission, a 4-cylinder DI engine, a Diesel Powerstroke engine, a 6-cylinder engine on a running stand, and a couple cool cutaways including a Turbo, Explorer driveline, a Torsen differential. They also additional components including infotainment displays and EV/hybrid HV components. These components will go to great use in our Hybrid, EV, Diesel, Drivetrains, Autotrans, Engine Fundamentals, Fuel and Emissions, and Body electrical courses. Thank you very much!!

Thank you Ally for the electrified 2021 Lexus! This vehicle has great access to the hybrid electric components and will provide years of training and research! This vehicle is already getting great use in our EV, Hybrid, and our Brakes, Steering and Suspension course.

Nissan donates engines and transmissions
Thank you Nissan for the Aisin truck transmissions, the Cummins built diesel engines, and the collection of 4-cylinder engines. These components will get great use in our engines and auto trans courses for years to come! Every student in our AUT 150: Engine Fundamentals course gets to rebuild one of these modern gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines that have advanced variable valve train technology using oil controlled and electric motor-controlled cam phasers. Very cool!

Thank you Ally for the gracious EV battery lift table donation. This is a top-of-the-line battery table that’s capable of lifting over 2500 lbs! Along with our new EV twin-post lift, we can pull the batteries out of our EVs safely and efficiently!
